Plentitude

I’ve tried to keep up with the latest.
In science with the math.
In art with the wildest.
In all beliefs with the act.
But something always eludes me.
Is it patience or allure?
Won’t you come to me with oddity
of simple beauty that will endure.

Do the trees turn sappy?
Can a pesty child wrench my heart?
Can God all mighty question me
with the end or from the start?
Let me stumble along gracefully
I’m yours and not too smart.

Now compared to the rainbow
I’m dripping stinking smut.
My brain soggy mistletoe.
Who wants to kiss my butt?
Still I have a life to live
and another sacrifice to die.
So stick around and forgive
me and my big fat lie.
