Bio

William L. Lederer is a Chicago writer who has had over 30 of his plays produced in Chicago theaters such as Hull House, Barry Street, Old Town Players, Playwright Center, Triangle Art Center, Body Politic, Theatre Building, Athenaeum Theater and Prop Theater. His teleplay, The Reader and the Writer, was originally produced by WTTW (the local PBS station in Chicago) and it was later aired throughout the United States and Canada.

A decade ago, Bill Lederer played himself in the misadventure, Lost in the Grand Canyon, on A&E’s The Unexplained: Wilderness Survival and also on the Discovery Channel’s Storm Warnings: No Place to Hide.

Besides his playwriting, Lederer’s works also include: essays, poems and reviews. His writings are on archive at Chicago’s Newberry Library.

He also teaches creative writing at Stateville Correctional Center in Romeoville, Illinois.
