After the Life and Death of Something or Other

If a tree barks at you take it to church
and make it kneel in a pew.
If a dam swears leave it in the lurch.
Blessed are objects hanging anew.

If words fail place them in a class.
Force them to kiss society’s ass.
Outlines of nothing make them feel
space in the corridor gulping a meal.

Have rhyme mime an ecco within.
Stand up to clouds and declare a sin
not to make fun of the elastic mind.
It’s whatever you want you find.

But is that true? I’m getting bored.
Give me a one-on-one that can be adored.
A different shape making me pant
inside and outside to a can’t.

O to be one among many.
To cherish all for a penny.
Then I’d be great and you better.
And together we’d watch a triple-header!
