Even

Here now! Now there! Which one do you choose?
Either way I win and you lose.
Why not be kind and drop exclamations?
Notice my voice. It’s full of incantations.
Or is it designed to fiddle the mind.
A sentence merely a marker.
Past and present so entwined
we need a circus barker
to bring us all into one tent
to believe the freaky is content
when we go inside and realize
how lucky we are to be just our size.
Not a long list of abbreviations
that keep fixing  sex and nations
Into squares, blocks and circles.
And flapping your flag till your face purples.
The solution is this. Search for the odd.
Circle it cautiously and expect to plod.
And when you see the new uneven
watch out for rocks to get even-stephen.
