I saw a ghost last night.
It was my wife.
She told me nothing.
She was just there.
If only I had it to do all over
I’d go back to sleep.
And if she showed up again I’d ask questions.
Why did you marry me in the first place?
You were a beauty and I an ugly duck.
I know she’d answer I have big stiff lips,
a feathery tail and I’m slick.
I’d say don’t forget my webbed feet.
Then I’d swim after her cuz we’re very close.
And we’d slap around in the water.
Things becoming activities on the spot.
I would pluck words out of her mouth,
place them on my tongue and rhapsodize.
Still that wouldn’t do. I want you to be you
above the stars and under the ground.
Found in language and beyond.
Surprise me today as ever!
Speak 1,2,3 and to me!
